The REAL Juneau weather has finally set in...yesterday it clouded up and began to rain on us. In fact, yesterday was my first experience of Sunday morning worship in the dark!! The power went out and we had church with just the light that was coming in from the windows, but it was actually really cool! They normally don't have any thunderstorms here, but the last two nights it was lightning, and last night there was an awesome thunderstorm. We were at Bruce's house and heard this HUGE crash, it sounded like something had actually crashed, and we ran outside, but it was just a gigantic clap of thunder magnified by the echo coming off of the mountains! It was beautiful...I LOVE thunderstorms!! Anyway, it is cloudy today and rain is forecasted all this week. One of the members of the church yesterday said, "Welcome to the real Juneau!" The nice weather sure was awesome while it lasted, but I don't mind this either! It is really cool to see the clouds roll off of the mountains, it just reminds me of God's majesty!
On Friday night we went and served food at a place called "The Glory Hole". We served taco salad and they really seemed to enjoy it. Every time I do something like that, it just puts everything in perspective for me of how incredibly blessed I am and makes me want to do something more, so I would ask that you would pray for those people who are being served by this place and who are seeking more!
Speaking of food, as a native Texan I have gone three weeks without Mexican food (which I think is a record)...I sure have been craving some Rosa's! Could someone please ship some tortillas to me? :-)
Saturday night, I went to a beautiful wedding of one of the girls in the church here and it was incredible. The wedding was at 5, I left the reception at 11 and they were still going! It was a lot of fun, and it reminded me of the wedding ceremony that takes place between Christ and us, His church, and the party that takes place in heaven afterwards!
Well, it is my day off and I have some stuff to do, so I better run! May you have an incredibly blessed day in the Lord and remember to let your light shine!!
"This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin". ~I John 1:6-7
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven". ~Matthew 5:14-16
