It is another beautiful day in Juneau!! They told me it rained a ton here, but so far the weather has been amazing! The day that we arrived it was 82 degrees, which they said was a record...hard to imagine, huh? It has been cloudy and has rained a little bit, but today and yesterday have just been incredibly gorgeous days! The sun is shining and I think it is about 70 degrees, and on clear days like this you can see the top of the mountains and everything just looks so amazing!
Yesterday, me, Daniel and two of the boys in my youth group got up early and went on a hike. This wasn't a normal hike though...we hiked on the west trail to the Mendenhall Glacier and it was about an 8 mile hike and a pretty rough one at that! I was very proud of myself though with my back, knees, and ankle injuries! I haven't been able to really work out in about 8 months, so this was another amazing feat for me...and needless to say...my ENTIRE body hurts today!!! My ankle, that is still recovering from Dean's yard ;-) was really starting to hurt, and Daniel told me that I needed to hurt my wrist or something so it would take my mind off of my ankle...and well, I hurt my wrist shortly thereafter(LOL)!
Well, I realized I haven't told you about Daniel yet...ok, so he is an 18 year old from Ohio and will be entering into his freshman year at Harding University this fall. I was a little worried about the age difference at first, but we clicked from the start and we act like we've known each other forever, and of course pick on each other unmercifully...one of the kids even said that we act like brother and sister, and it has been really great! He is very outdoorsy and so he was running up the mountain yesterday, while I was struggling, but he said he wants to get me in shape by the end of this summer (which is one of my goals too!) and we are going to go hiking a lot, and of course take lots of pictures-so I will share those with you all!
Anyway, I've got to take my sore body and go get ready because we are about to do something with the little kids in the church, so for now let me leave you with this:
"For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His spirit in the inner man; so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever"! ~Ephesians 3: 14-21
