Winterfest

Since I am behind on my blogging, I have not mentioned this: On January 16th a Suburban that was traveling back from Winterfest carrying 8 people from the Highland Church of Christ here in Abilene flipped a couple of times, killing one 11 year old boy: Brody Bourland, and injuring the other 6 kids and the driver.

Well I have some great news about the Highland kids...Amara went home on Monday, and Chris Cope came home yesterday...and he was the last of the kids to come home! The only person left in the hospital is the driver...so continue to pray for God to provide both emotional and physical healing to all those involved. There is a long road ahead, but thank God for His faithfulness and steadfastness in our lives!

I also want to mention what an awesome time it was to be at Winterfest this year! It had been a few years since I had gone and it was a blessing. First of all, it was awesome to be with teenagers again-especially my kids from Broadway! Also, the class that Brook and Amanda were doing took an eternity to set up...but was totally worth it! We did kind of a prayer labyrinth thing and had 4 quadrants and about 700 kids would enter at one time and just go spend time with God through many forms...the first group that came in was just amazing...I was close to tears as I could just feel the Spirit moving and working in that room and it was AWESOME!! I heard many people comment that it was their favorite class, and I KNOW that God was working on a lot of young hearts! Rock on!! I felt like I missed most of the weekend because we spent so much time in our classroom, but the Sunday morning worship was so inspiring! The singing was great and I really enjoyed Jeff Walling's lesson encouraging us to put God as our Master and Commander of our lives.

It was also wonderful to see one of my friends, Tony Brown- who I had not seen in a long time and who I have to give props to-he is an amazing singer and beatboxer, and you should go check out his stuff: www.mouthgrooves.com He will rock your socks off! He is also in a group called Watershed Worship, which I love, mainly because it is made up of most of the AVB guys who rebanded back in '99 or so...you should go check them out too: www.watershedworship.com Anyway, there is my plug...love ya Tony!

Well, it is West Wing and Alias time...so I must sign off for the night, but not without leaving this with you to chew on:

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal". ~II Corinthians 4:16-18

I thought that it is an appropriate verse for all that is going on in this world right now! May your hearts be enlightened by it and may you continue to walk in His grace...
