So I guess that someone really needed shelter from the moisture today...because my umbrella was stolen while I was in the library at ACU! I hope they needed it more than I did...
For those of you who are keeping up with the Highland accident...you need to go read Mike Cope's post today...it truly brought tears to my eyes and laid this Scripture upon my heart:
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows". ~2 Corinthians 1:3-5
On top of that...it was a huge blessing to meet with my mentor group today and to hear how God is working in each of our lives. We all seemed to really be struggling last semester with the transitions and several issues, and it has been an encouragement to go through this journey together. We are about to begin Warren's "The Purpose Driven Life" and encourage each other to live more disciplined spiritual lives and I look forwad to seeing what fruits come from that...it was also really neat to hear Dr. Childers update us about Amara and tell us how much the faith community has showered them with love and prayers and how they could feel the prayers being lifted up for them. It has also showed a lot of us how we sometimes place too much importance on smaller things, which in the whole scheme of life are not as important. It's ironic that it usually takes a tragedy like this, or 9-11, or a natural disaster like the tsunami to open ours again and really see that.
I love you guys and look forward to this semester...I pray that you are all blessed as you continue on this journey of being more like and knowing more about our Father and for your desire to share Him with others!
"I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus". ~Philippians 1:3-6
