Friday night was a tremendous blessing. I love Encounter at LCU. It has been a tremendous blessing in my life for years. I love the people and the way God works in amazing ways. I realized on my way to Lubbock that as long as I was going to ACSD in June for the next couple of years, that I would not be able to attend Encounter. I have to admit that made me sad! When I figured out that ACSD was the same week, I planned on coming in on Friday so I could at least be a part of the last night. I am SO thankful that I did. Worship was awesome, I was able to witness 12 baptisms, and see people that I rarely get to see and have some awesome conversations. It was such a blessing!! I seriously left that place beaming-I mean big, 'ol fat smile-something that I have not done in MONTHS!!! I felt a tremendous sense of joy-and realized how much I had been missing that. I guess I still have some things to work through, but I am so incredibly thankful for the opportunities God has given me to meet, work, worship, laugh, cry, and be blessed by so many wonderful people in so many places.
I got a letter today from the 7 year old Ugandan child that I am sponsoring through World Vision. I loved what she wrote: "I go to church on Sunday. We jump while singing, we shout and clap hands. It's a very interesting class. They teach us the bravest man on earth who has ever lived. His called Jesus. That He is master of all creation. I enjoy going there. I have friends there..."
I love that!! It made my day-I am really excited about the relationship that we can form over the years to come. I would love to go visit her someday, too!
It was also wonderful to go to Broadway on Sunday! I think that it will always feel right to drive down that brick road and call Broadway home-because it will always be that, no matter how many years I have been gone. I have been tremendously blessed by people there, too, and am so thankful for each one of them. I am also WAY excited about the fact that David Fraze is now a minister there-I know that God is going to continue to do amazing things through Him. What a blessing He is!!
I don't know if it is because it is summer time and there is a lot of free time, or because of all that is going on-or probably a combination of both...but I have a lot of thoughts floating around in my head lately. More to come on that...

Hello. I am a fellow Alumni of LCU. I appreciate your post on Mike Cope's blog. Alot of great things are going on in the Biblical Studies Department and at LCU. I recieved my degree in Bible with an emphesis in Youth and Family ministry. I have known David Fraze or now Dr. David Fraze along time. Scott Jarvis was my youth minister growing up and of course him and David were best of friends. As a teen I never went to Encounter (too expensive for my parents) but I spoke at encounter for a few years when I moved back to Texas.
Again, wanted to say thank you for you post on Mike's site and say hello to a fellow Alumni of LCU.
God bless you as you serve him.
