So, it is official...I am now going to have to be like Zoolander and learn how to turn left. As of today, my parents have moved to the other end of I-35 from Burleson to Denton, Texas...therefore now when I enter the split on 35-instead of turning right and heading south, I will now be turning left and heading north. Wierd.
It is such a great move, though-they are now only a few miles from my brother and his 4 kids and that is just awesome for many reasons. They will get to see them SO much more and now so will I!! It was almost near impossible (unless it was a holiday) for me to see everyone during one trip, so this is great for everyone involved.
Still, it is strange...I lived my entire life in the Fort Worth/Burleson area...granted this is really not that far up the road and I have not lived in that area in over 9 years, but it is still different. I never really liked living in Burleson because it was so far from the rest of my life: school, church, work, and pretty much all of my friends from the 7th grade on were in Fort Worth. I loved our house and being out in the country, though, and then my parents moved to their current house in Burleson my sophomore year of college. I hated that because we were moving out of the house I grew up in, but it was a good move for them. Nothing has really been keeping us in Burleson, or that matter Fort Worth for years. We changed churches when I was in 5th grade, schools when I was in 7th, and both of my parents have worked somewhere in Fort Worth for a long time now.
Honestly, I told them wherever they move would be home, and as cliche as it sounds "Home really is where the heart is"! At this point, I have no desire whatsoever to move back to the metroplex ever, and have no clue where I will end up next on this journey, so I am really glad that they are able to be closer to my brother and his family. Now, I will just have to learn to turn left!!
It really is amazing to look back and see how far God has brought me on this journey and continues to take me. I am so blessed by His faithfulness and guidance in my life all along the way. I have also been blessed with many many homes away from home from Lubbock to Artesia to Mexico to Juneau and now in Abilene...and so many places in between...of course there is still one that I long for above ALL others!!
Blessings to you and your home-wherever it may be...
"By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures" ~Proverbs 24: 3-4

while you're turning left, take a little detour to addison and say Hi!! Or stop by the Branch on a Saturday night and you'll see us there.
And my parents live only 20 minutes from Denton. We'll have to find a weekend when we're both in the area and hang out.
