Contentment

It was such a wonderful weekend spent with my mom and aunt!! They were just going to come in on Friday and leave on Saturday, but since the dust storm of the century (for Abilene) decided to blow in, they decided to stay an extra day...and I am so thankful that they did. I felt like Lubbock came to visit! We went to Abuelo's on Friday night and had fajitas...yum!! Of course, I took them to Harold's on Saturday, then we did some shopping and hung out and played games in the evening. I am thankful they were able to worship with me at Highland on Sunday and hear Jerry Taylor BRING IT!! It was an awesome service and I think we were all blessed. He was talking about how we need to be content wherever God has placed us, and allow Him to use us right where we are. I need to be reminded of that...often!! He said a couple of things that really resonated with me:

**We become harassed by a "here" that is not good enough, while we are looking for a "there" that is better.
**While we are looking for a way OUT of our situation, God is looking for a way IN.
**We need to be where we are and be in Him while we are where we are.
**When you take a shortcut, you end up cutting yourself short.
**We need to revolving doors: ushering people out of the world and into God's transforming presence; and then back out into the world to be conduits for God to speak through.

It was a great sermon-I could not take notes fast enough, He was saying some powerful statements-and most of it we have heard before, but the way he was putting it all together-he was really speaking the Word of God and it was impacting.

I am blessed to have such a wonderful family. It was so awesome for them to be here, and my aunt is not able to travel much so she was just having a blast, and I am glad that she was able to come. Of course, I always love spending time with my mom and cherish that time so much more as I grow older. This can be an incredibly lonely town, so I love it when people come visit or I have plans on the weekend; and especially when I have someone to go to church with-it is hard going week after week by myself.

I have also finally been able to join a small group at Highland, and I love the people in it-it is a blessing to hear their stories and how God has led them through trials and joys. I look forward to walking along on this journey with them.

That was a really good post...all of it! I know what you mean about going to church alone. I don't like it either. I am really looking forward to Zoe too! Hope to see you there!

Sorry about the church thing. I remember how hard it used to be. At least you will get something out of it. I go and I swear I don't year anything. That is what a 4 and 1 year old do.
BTW it was great to see you at MF as well.
