Have you ever looked at a piece of architecture and marveled over it? A new tall skyscraper, a stadium, a special sculpture? If you watched the Olympics (which I admit I watched religiously), then you saw the awesome design of the Bird's Nest, the Water Cube, and the building that resembled the Olympic flame. They looked incredible on TV-I cannot even imagine what they look like in person. If you have been by Abilene or ACU, you have seen the incredible piece of beauty called Jacob's Dream (see picture). Each one of those pieces of architecture is planned months and years in advance by the architects and builders-through meetings, drawings, incredibly detailed plans and blueprints-right down to every nut and bolt that goes into the project. Of course, many of us do not see that-we only see the finished product, and can marvel at it.
How much more amazing is it to think how God (the Great Architect) made us? He knew well in advance what we would look like, how our personalities would be, what we would do, and who we would be.
This is shown so beautifully in one of my favorite psalms, Psalm 139:
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them! (13-17)
Matthew 12:7 says, "Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."
I tend to forget this sometimes. I have to remind myself that I have been made in the image of God, that He knew me before I was even born, and that He is still walking with me now-even when I don't understand or cannot see what is around the corner. Even when we look around and see all of the disasters here on earth which can sometimes be overwhelming-we remember that God, who created it all-is in control.
He created you in His image, too-and no matter what is going on in your life-He is walking with you. He knows every hair on your head. He knows every freckle on me! ;) He planned and perfected every part of you-you are wonderful and precious because you are God's child. Isn't that beautiful??!!
May you be reminded today that the Great Architect of you and of this world we live in has created you to be who you are right where you are.

Kat,
Thanks for the nice reminder this morning!
I am an Engineer and have worked in manufacturing for almost 5 years now - everytime a new project finally reaches the "production" stage I think about God's day of rest.
As a "process geek" I wish I could have been there for THE beginning!
Have a good day.
wow- what a great way to start the morning. With a message like that. Your blog is like my devotional!
Kat - it wasn't until I took an A & P class when I was becoming a paramedic that I really fell in love with how fascinating the body really is. I still remember sitting there with my mouth open thinking, "Wow, God is amazing."
Peace sister!
Isn't it amazing how perfect and complete God made everything. From all the processes that go on in our body at the same time to the mathematical preciseness of our solar system. It is truly mind boggling. How anyone could think all this is random is beyond me.
I found your blog through a comment you left on Cleft of the Rock. Love your blog. I'll be back.
My kids used to love that song by AVB, the church is YOU. It's playing in my head this very second. :)
And...I love Jacob's dream. One graduated from ACU and another is still there.
