My favorite weekend of the year is upon us!! I am WAY excited...and not just because it is Easter (AND my birthday!!), but also because it is the weekend of LTC (for those deficient in the Church of Christ lingo, that would be Leadership Training for Christ)! This will be my 10th year to go and I think it is one of the most beneficial and awesome events out there for kids (although I know many do not agree). I loved participating in high school...I was crazy though, because I did 7 events my Senior year while trying to juggle everything else. Those included: Large Chorus, Small Chorus, Drama, Song Leading, Bible Reading, Christian Essay, and Scripture Challenge (which by the way...was definitely a challenge!! I had to memorize 100 verses and say them all at the same time...but how incredibly beneficial it was!! There are still many verses I will read again today and remember that they were from that challenge). This while I was finishing my Senior year, playing sports, involved in everything else under the sun (gotta love private school!) and working. Talk about overcommitted!! Will I ever learn? ;)
In the years past I always went with Altamesa (which is my home church), but my kids from Broadway are actually participating this year in Dallas-which is WAY exciting!! They usually bring the younger kids, but this year the teenagers are also coming, and Amanda asked me a couple of weeks ago to be a sponsor, and of course I said yes!!
Spring has sprung, and that always puts me in such a better mood. There are trees (yes, we do have a few here in West Texas) and flowers blooming, and the weather is just perfect! It just reminds me of God's creation, and beauty, and the way He is working in my life, and it reminds me of this verse:
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" ~2 Corinthians 5:17
My parents are leaving for London tomorrow-my brother sent them on a 7 day trip there for their anniversary. It is like the honeymoon they never had (about 42 years late!) ;) I am really happy for them because they have never been out of the country, and both me and my brother have been all over (but I can't say I wish I couldn't stowaway in their suitcase!!) So please pray for their safety and I hope they have a blast!!
On another note, please continue to keep Jon Westin Bennett (one of the 6th grade boys injured in the Highland wreck in January) as he is still in Cook's Children Hospital in Fort Worth because one of his broken legs is still infected. The infection was never completely gone and a spot of the bone is not regenerating as it should. They will give it more time to see if the bone will begin to heal itself, but if the bone does not regenerate, they will have to begin the long process of bone grafting.
So please pray that the mighty healer of us all can heal Jon Westin, because we know that ALL things are possible with God! Also pray for his family, as this has been a long and very hard road for all of them.
Hope you all have a most wonderful and blessed day and that you can enjoy the newness of Spring and see God in everything, even the small things today~

LTC, those were the days. I'll never forget one year I was super hyper and was throwing fruit snacks off of the balcony, right in front of people. I wasn't trying to hit anyone, I just wanted them to see flying fruit snacks and think "What the heck!" Well little did I know, that I'm a retard, and I was throwing them in front of the security guard. He looked up and saw us (I don't remember who was with me, probably Josh) and began counting what floor we were on and how many rooms overs. Five minutes later, he was at our door. I almost peed in my pants. Luckily it was the big room reserved for our whole church so he couldn't really narrow down a suspect with like thirty kids in the room. I will never throw fruit snacks off of the balcony AGAIN!
Now isn't your birthday on Friday? I'm not sure, but I know its this weekend, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
Ha ha-I think I heard about that story...but me losing my car a few years back is still the best and most told story yet! LOL
Well, if you had been reading, you would KNOW that it is on Sunday! Because it is the same day as Easter, and I can break my Lent and have my chocolate cake!! YAY!!
Thanks, though...this is the end adolescence as we know it...;)
