There were 20 people in my graduating class in high school. We graduated 10 years ago in 1997. We were close-we did everything together. By the time we arrived on our Senior trip we had been around each other a little too long and were fighting like brothers and sisters. That is why news like this is so hard...
The Thursday before Easter, Rory's dad was diagnosed with a brain tumor and within a week he passed away. Last Thursday, my friend Kyle's dad had a heart attack while he was working in New Orleans (where he has been helping rebuild since hurricane Katrina). Kent also passed away this morning, leaving behind 6 children and 1 grandchild.
We just seem way too young for this. I know death is inevitable, but still hard. We were a family and our families were adoptive families. Even though it has been 10 years, we have all gone many different directions and there are some I have not spoken to in awhile...I still hear about them through others, and rejoice when there is good news and mourn when there is news like this.
Please be in prayer for the Brown family as they struggle through this, and also continue to be in prayer for the Westfall family as they continue to feel a void where Royce was.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. ~2 Corinthians 1:3-5

It's so hard to hear about this. After losing my Papa I have had a horrible gaping hole and so when I hear about these things happening my heart breaks all over.
I can't stop praying for these families.....what are we going to do??
It seems like the older we get the more reality we have about life, death, and just suffering in general. It is hard, but I am glad that I am a christian, b/c I don't know what else I'd do!
Congrats on having another year done!
