Words of wisdom

Here are some words of advice that my mom found the other day. I had written them down in a much younger handwriting style, and cannot remember when I wrote them down or who said them, but they spoke to me and I wanted to share...

Be yourself-but be your best self. Dare to be different and to follow your own star...and don't be afraid to be happy.

Enjoy what is beautiful, love with all your heart and soul. Believe that those you love, love you.

When you are faced with a decision, make that decision as wisely as possible-then forget it. The moment of absolute certainty never arrives (oh my, how true that is!!)

Above all, remember that God helps those who helps themselves. Act as if everything depended upon you, and pray as if everything depended upon God.

...and then I found wisdom in one of the most unusual places. As I was watching Ratatouille:

If you focus on what's left behind...you will never find what lies ahead.

I also love this quote from John Eldredge:

Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs are people who have come alive.

Of course, some of the most encouraging words from our Father Himself:

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. ~Jeremiah 29:11-13
